Database Research

1.  The database passwords can be found by logging into Cubview, go to Burns Library group page at   "Databases for Research."

Remember, you must be logged in with your LOYOLA HS EMAIL, otherwise you will not be able to download any of our files.

2.  Search these databases for historical background regarding US History.

3.  Try these two databases first as they both offer ways to filter or narrow your search queries.

4.  You may also try JSTOR, but it will not be as easily filter-able.

    Go to "Student Research Center"
In the search line, type "united states reconstruction." You will notice lots of results about Iraq--of course, you don't want those. So, click on the Frederick Douglass article (#2 in list). It will show you a screen that includes a list of SUBJECTS--click on the one that says "RECONSTRUCTION (U.S. history, 1865-1877)" then hit SEARCH button again. Now the results will be all about this topic.
  • ABC-Clio Social Studies
Choose the American History Database only. In the upper right corner in "Quick Search" type in RECONSTRUCTION.
